I just buyed a new drive for a Windows XP SP2 PC, the original drive had bad sectors, so when I cloned the drive with norton ghost, the bad sectors were cloned too.
I have read a lot about un-marking the bad sectors in a NTFS drive and the only supported solution is to format the drive.
So I tryied to copy all file from the C: drive to a temporary drive using xxclone (http://www.xxclone.com/)
The clonning seems to work but later I discover that the xxclone program could not copy the file that can not be readed by the administrator due to access permissions.
So, this xxclone crap software is not a clone utility and I don't recomend it. The author claims it uses a novel clone tecnique and he hopes that all big companies(norton, acronis, etc) uses the same tecnique.
Let me tell you that if a cloning technique can not clone ALL files from a drive, it is NOT a cloning technique!
Conclusion: never, ever use xxclone for cloning!
